Billie Joe Armstrong

Billie Joe was born on February 17, 1972 in Rodeo, California. He grew up with music in his house because his dad was a jazz drummer, and by the age of 5 he recorded his first song, "Looking For Love". When Billie was 10 his father got cancer of the esophagus, which spread, and a few months later, he died.

Billie also met Mike when he was ten, in the school cafeteria. At age 14 they formed the band Sweet Children along with drummer John Kiffmeyer (a.k.a. Al Sobrante). That same year Billie wrote his first song, "Why Do You Want Him?". Sweet Children played their first show at Rod's Hickory Pit where Billie's mom worked. He dropped out of high school in 12th grade so he could give his full attention to the band.

During one of Green Day's early tours at a show in Minnesota Billie Joe met his future wife Adrienne. Then in 1994 Adrienne moved out to California and they got married a month later. In March 1995 Billie and Adrienne's first son Joey Marciano Armstrong was born. Two years later, they had another son, Jakob Danger.

Billie Joe has played with other bands such as Blatz and has co-written songs with Rancid and The Go-Go's. He is also in the band Pinhead Gunpowder. He a the co-owner and co-founder of the label, Adeline Records.
